Mary Ellen “Mamie” O’Shea
Family In Rockaway
O’Shea, whose nickname was “Mamie,” was the wife of the late John O’Shea, mother of John “Chris” O’Shea of Rockaway Park, Patrick, and Margaret Pauline. She was the mother in law of Lissa and the late Hazel, and grandmother of Christina, Suzan, Pauline and Paul.
Her family wished to thank O’Shea’s extended family at St. Columanus Home in Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland.
Mass was held at Sacred Heart Church in Milltown. Burial was at Milltown Cemetery.
Eleanor M. (nee Ward) Draudt
Eleanor M. (nee Ward) Draudt, a Rockaway resident for 60 years, died on February 2.
Draudt, who was born in New York, New York, worked as a supervisor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick.
Draudt is survived by her sons, Frederick Jr. and James; daughter, Catherine Unsler; brother, William; sisters, Estelle Bartolino and Catherine Nolan; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 6 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Monday at 9:45 a.m. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery.
Eric Deshone Dunning
Medical Librarian Assistant
Eric Deshone Dunning, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died on January 25. He was 32.
Dunning, who was born in Far Rockaway on September 16, 1972, was a parishioner of St. John’s Baptist Church. He was a member of the Rockaway Riders Motorcycle Club, and worked as a medical librarian assistant.
Dunning is survived by his three daughters, Erica, Eboni and Tiara Dunning; mother, Katie Dunning-Stewart; father, Ira Stewart; brothers, Deric Dunning, Ramel Hood and Ira L. Stewart; sister, Jenene Stewart; grandmother, Leona Dunning; aunts, Mary Summers, Katherine Baley, Sinder and Jackie Stewart, Jonnie Johnson, Annie and Paticia Dunning, Jennifer Brideforth and Eva Holman, all of Far Rockaway, Valorie Stewart, Ella Dunning, Josie Mitchell and Ophelia Martin, Michelle Stewart and Jewleth Stewart; uncles, Byron Dunning, Paul Johnson, of Far Rockaway, Lewis Dunning, Henry Reed, Willie Mitchell and Tommy Martin; Delano Stewart, Steve Russell and Michael Stewart, all from Far Rockaway; godmother Marilyn Dixon of Far Rockaway; special friends, Gwendolyn Daneils, Taisha Bedford, Melody Smallwood and Danita Norville; nieces, Shanice and Kira; nephew, Deric Jr.; 23 cousins; and other family members and friends.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home. Services were held at St. John’s Baptist Church. Interment was at Pinelawn Cemetery.
Edna M. Lyons
Edna M. Lyons, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died on January 30.
Lyons, who was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was an executive secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James.
Lyons is survived by her sons, Michael, William and James Lyons; daughters, Maureen Lyons Harnisch and Patricia Cominos; and sisters, Rosemary Patterson and Eileen.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. A Mass was celebrated at St. Francis de Sales. Disposition was kept private.
