Irish Ropes Taste Success

The Irish Ropes Boxing Club has tasted early success so far in the Daily News Golden Gloves boxing tournament.

Far Rockaway’s Rashad Johnson defeated Naili Monir in a 152 pound battle at St. Catherine’s in Franklin Square last Tuesday. Described by Irish Ropes owner and co-founder Eddie McLoughlin as one of the hardest workers in the gym, the 24 year old displayed immense strength and punching power during the fight.

Belle Harbor’s Vinny Alentano won in a third round knockout in the super heavyweight division at the Freeport Recreational Center in Long Island.
