Community Celebrates Zagor’s Accomplishments

Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer and Congressman Gregory Meeks help celebrate Fern Zagor’s 14 years of service to the Rockaway community through her work at the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center with proclamations from the State Assembly and the U.S. Congress at a party at the Beach club on January 27. Zagor (holding the congressional proclamation) left her position at Addabbo as chief administrator for community and mental health services at the end of last year to become the chief operating officer of the Staten Island Mental Health Society, West Brighton. Zagor holds up a special going away gift presented to her by Dr. Peter Nelson, the executive director of the Addabbo Family Health Center. It is a one of a kind, 14k gold pin showing two hands reaching across the globe in unity. The symbol has become the trademarks of CURC (Collaboration for Unity in the Rockaway Community) and the Annual Rockaway Multi-Cultural Festival – two projects Zagor was very much involved in.
