St. Francis Wins Battle Over South Windsor
Last Friday, St. Francis turned the tables on South Windsor and captured two out of three victories at home. The packed gym saw some exciting and intense action.
In the seventh grade matchup, St. Francis pulled away in the second half for a 58-35 victory. Patryk Grabowski led St. Francis by 18 points. Aaron Real scored 11 points and Tim Knight added 10.
In the most exciting game of the night, South Windsor held off a late St. Francis rally for a 45-42 victory. Down three points with ten seconds left in the fourth quarter, St. Francis could not get off a last second shot to tie the game. Geoff Birch led South Windsor with 20 points. Matt Knott led St. Francis with 13 points.
In the final game of the night, a tight defensive effort gave head coach Marty Andresen’s Saint Francis 6th grade team a 47-37 win. James Mercer was St. Francis’s top scorer with 11 points. John Evans, Stephen Kelly and James Goldberg each scored 8 points.
St. Francis will travel to South Windsor at the end of the month to complete the home and home series of basketball games.
