Test For Correction Officer Set For March 19
Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer says that her office has been contacted by the New York State Department of Correctional Services (DCS), requesting her assistance with their Department’s Correction Officer recruitment effort. Accordingly, under the auspices of the New York State Department of Civil Service, a new examination will be held on March 19.
The filing deadline for the exam is January 31.
Assemblywoman Pheffer has a number of applications and fact sheets that describe the salary and benefits to employees serving in Correction Officer positions. The trainee starting salary begins at $28,444 per year, which, increases after six months to $30,043. After successful completion of the one-year Correction Officer traineeship, the salary increases to $34,742 per year.
At the time of appointment, candidates must be at least 21 years old, be in good physical and mental health, possess a high school diploma or GED and be a U.S. citizen. Convicted felons are automatically disqualified.
