Pepper Steppers Speed To Victory At Apollo

Stan Pepper Steppers 2004 World Champion Double Dutch team from Far Rockaway placed first in the speed category in the 13th annual holiday festival on December 12. The Pepper Steppers dazzled the audiences of Harlem’s World Famous Apollo Theatre with a breathtaking show of speed. The showstopping performance led by Stan’s 8th grade and high school took first, second and third place.

The Pepper Steppers team of jumpers and coaches all come from the Rockaway peninsula. The team members are: Laa’neisha Jones, Paula Robinson, Katherine Rocha, Cherise Bartwo, Denise Clemonds, Camay Cardwell, Ruby Mejia, Jason Pizarro, LaQuasha Brown, Dominique Harris, Camilla Ensley, Francois Nicolas and Terae Walker.

The coaches and officials: Stan Brown, Linda Brown, Yatte Brown, Carol Walker, Andrea (Dana) Santana, Lorriane Ramsey, Deandrea Jordan, Chiffon Scott, Tiffany Taylor and Aamira Moore.

The team practices at the Sorrentino Recreation Center, a part of the New York Parks and Recreation in Far Rockaway is located at 1848 Cornaga Avenue. Special thanks go to Bernard Robinson, center manager, the staff and the Far Rockaway community. We did it again. Thanks!!!

Sorrentino All Star Game

The Sorrentino Recreation Center presents the first annual NFL/ P.A.L./ Parks and Recreation Flag Football All Star Game. The game will include all stars from the 15-18 years old division.

The game will take place O’Donohue Park on Saturday, December 17 at 1:30 p.m. For further information, contact Bernard Robinson, Stan Brown, sports director or Robert Lindo, coordinator at 718-471-4818.
