Events to raise funds for the Mardi Gras and for the BCVFD have been going on all summer and they will culminate this weekend with a series of events in the community. On Friday, September 3, the volies will host an afternoon “Countdown” as the Noel Road firehouse that will include DJ Teddy, face painting and rides for the kids. Also at the countdown will be the drawing for the $10,000 prize.
On Sunday, September 5, there will be a home-judging contest to choose “The Most Decorated House” in the community. Judges urge residents to “be creative, be festive, be patriotic, be original.” Many residents will spend the day making their floats for the Monday parade. In the evening, “Visitation Night” will be held. On Monday, September 6, the culminating event of the weekend, The Labor Day Parade, will take place on Cross Bay Boulevard.
