PS 114 Students Utilize State-of–The-Art Technology
Utilizing the HP Compaq 1100 wireless, networked Tablet computer, the Belle Harbor School - P.S. 114Q technology students in Ronald Gerson’s class demonstrate proficiency in navigating the stylus, yet another method of data entry that is somewhat similar to a pen! The Tablet computer, which contains a slate “notebook,” as well as the standard laptop, is just one component of the $35,000.00+ HP “Technology for Teaching” Grant that Gerson successfully applied for on behalf of P.S. 114Q. The “Technology for Teaching Grant” includes, in addition to the Tablets, an HP 735 digital camera, a state-of-the-art HP Officejet 7140x networked multifunction machine, a portable digital video projector, plus many hours worth of professional technology Staff Development offered in conjunction with ISTE (The Institute for Technology Education). P.S. 114Q Principal Brian O’Connell actively supports integrating technology into the curriculum, noting the Belle Harbor School’s successful Fall 2004 “Stock Market Game” competition.
