Shot In The Buttocks, Arrested For Crack

By Brian Magoolaghan

  • A shooting victim with a backside bullet wound was arrested at a local hospital last week after an emergency room staffer reported seeing him toss away a paper bag that contained 35 rocks of crack cocaine.
  • Andre D. Taylor, 25, allegedly had the individually wrapped pieces of crack in his possession when he was brought to the ER on the night of December 14, according to court records. A staff member notified police after he saw Taylor toss a brown paper bag containing the crack into his bedside trashcan.

Earlier that evening, Taylor was chased down and shot at the Ocean Village housing complex, according to witness depositions. Security guards saw a small group of men arguing in front of 57-07 Shore Front Parkway and then watched the men chase and shoot Taylor before fleeing.

Police put out a full response, canvassing the entire area and searching from the air by helicopter. The Canine Unit led officers to 146 Beach 59 Street. Police identified Hakeem Brock, who lives at that address, as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. They are asking anyone with information to call 718-868-3400.

Taylor, who was released from PHC, faces three counts of criminal possession of controlled substance charges. Judge Joseph Zayas released Taylor on his own recognizance and set his return date for January 19, according to a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.
