Precinct Commanding Officer Named ‘Cop Of The Month’
Police officers from the 100 Precinct including Community Affairs Officers Lou Brust and Kenny Beecher (at right) watch Wednesday night’s 100 Precinct Community Council meeting.
The Commanding Officer of the 100 Precinct, Captain Paul Piekarski, speaks to the crowd at the meeting, discussing the month’s activities and answering questions.
Brandon O’Connor, who jumped into the raging surf last summer to rescue a girl in distress, is presented with an award by Captain Piekarski. The CO said that O’Connor “did not get the credit due him,” due to the fact that firefighters later reported that they had rescued a police officer in distress in the water, mistakenly thinking that O’Connor was that police officer.Captain Piekarski was awarded the “Cop Of The Month” award for his action resulting in a number of arrests that resulted in guns being taken off Rockaway streets. He was presented with the award by Precinct Community Council President Jate Doreemus ( left) and Lieutenant Derrick Corrado
