The Breezy Point Sugar Bowl has lost some of it’s sweetness since the passing of much loved Paul (Mr. Glib) Kavanaugh, of Breezy Point and Brooklyn, a WWII veteran, restaurateur, bar qwner of the Hampton’s Bawdy Barn and many years with Kennedy’s Restaurant and the Sugar Bowl where he founded the ever popular Fridays Senior Citizens Happy Hours. Paul was ever ready with a glib retort and that is why I dubbed him, “Mr. Glib”. When not at the Sugar Bowl you could find him behind the bar at Kennedy’s Restaurant clowning with the customers. The turnout at the Good Shepherd Church and Carlton Cemetery was testimony of the deep affection people had for him. He leaves a cousin and Aunt from Las Vegas. We will miss you, Paul and all your “Glib” remarks. May you find serenity, freedom from pain and peace.

Little Aidan Murray celebrated his birthday at the Sensory Bar with Grace Kane (4 yrs), sister, Caroline and brother, Jack and parents, John and Janice.

At the Vascular Show at the Hilton a week ago I ran into Steven J. Guidice, originally from Howard Beach where his Mom and Pop still live. Steven is now residing in Setauket, L.I. He was part of the Angio Jet exhibit, a saline jet that travels backwards at 390 mph to create a low pressure zone causing a vacuum effect. Thrombus is drawn into the catheter where it is fragmented by the jets and evacuated from the body.

Before our long flight home from Ca. My son, Kevin and I, along with his wife, Julie and their lil daughter 2 1/2 yr. old Beth stopped for dinner in the busy and festive Old Town where we came upon the Festival of Lights with the bouncy Mariachi Band and dined La Linde Italian restaurant. This is a great place to dine before your flight back to New York because it is so close to the Airport. Keep it in mind .on your next rip to Ca. They have four restaurants of different ethnic foods.

Attended a reception and auction honoring LeRoy Neiman Sketchbook, 1964 Liston vs Clay-1964 Ali vs Liston Sketches, Commentary, and Boxing Lore. Skitch Henderson was among the many celebrities.

If you like good melodrama you will enjoy B’way’s , “Night Mother” with award winning actress, Brenda Blethyn and other award winng actress Edie Falco of Saprano’s TV fame. Superb acting throughout about a Mother trying to prevent her epileptic daughter from taking her life.

It is not quite as depressing as it sounds. Humor and emotional strains are evident  throughout. Highly emotional and gripping.

Caught the movie “Closer,” and thoroughly enjoyed it. You might like it , too.
