Beach Channel High School (BCHS)
celebrated its 6th annual Thanksgiving Day dinner for senior citizens and nursing home residents this past Thanksgiving morning. The event was coordinated by Sheila Murray, BCHS Coordinator of Student Affairs, and fully supported by BCHS Principal, Dr. David Morris and the entire BCHS community.
Special guests at the dinner included the Seaside Community Center and residents from Gloria’s Manor, and Resort, Horizon, Park, and Park Inn nursing homes.
The BCHS Band, Choir and DJ Donnell all performed throughout the dinner. The BCHS Key Club provided butler service before the dinner offering muffins and cakes to the guests. Affordable Auto on Beach 73rd Street and Russo’s on the bay made a large food donation in addition to the turkeys and trimmings donated by the BCHS students and their families.
The Rockaway community also contributed to the event this year. The St Francis de Sales 7th grade religious education students brought and served salad to each of the guests. Annie Graves Reality, and the Murray, Tsatis, Carnaccio and Greenberg families all volunteered to make this event a success. At the end of the day the sign in sheet for volunteers and contributions had grown to 8 pages! This amazing event just gets better every year.
