AA 587 Memorial In Benin, DR, May Become Rockaway Model

When Mayor Mike Bloomberg last traveled to the Dominican Republic, he visited the memorial to those who died in the crash of American Airlines, which is located in the city of Benin. He commented that the memorial might well serve as a model for what he would eventually like to see in New York City. Now that the site for the memorial, on Beach 116 Street on the turnaround has been selected, the Benin memorial might become important in the thinking of city planners designing the Rockaway memorial.
