The Ravens: Doogie, Thoda, Joe, Puba, Tete, JuJu, Azod, Artie, Pookie, Rob and Tony. Coaches: Adam Herrera and Anthony Harris. The Ravens are a flag football team in the senior division of the Rockaway Police Athletic Flag Football League. The team is made up of students from P.S. 105 and M.S. 198. Head coach Adam Herrera, 16 and assistant coach Anthony Harris, 15, are students at Beach Channel High School.

These teenagers have managed to bring this team to the PAL playoffs, which take place today at 12 p.m. at Beach Channel’s football field. It was a rough beginning considering that the coaches are not much older than their team. However, after four wins this season, they have proven to be coaches who care and have shown dedication to these young players.

“I love football. I am very competitive. But most of all I love to be able to work with the kids in our community” Herrera said. Adam also expressed how it is important that teenagers support the younger children and teach then sportsmanship and camaraderie. “It was fun and I love my team. I would recommend that other teenagers and adults get involved in coaching other sports in the PAL. It helps the younger children in our community stay focused and out of trouble”, Herrera said.

He would like to thank: Coach Carter, Coach Dave, Ms. Alla Nesmith, parent coordinator at P.S. 105, Assistant coach/best friend Anthony Harris and his mother Ms. Nelkys Bonilla, P.A. President at 105 for all of their support and giving him this opportunity.
