101 Precinct Presents ‘Cop Of The Month’ Award

Capt. Elwood ‘Woody’ Selover (the new executive officer at the 101), Detective Willie Olmeda (Community Affairs), 101 Community Council representative Gian Jones and Capt. Walter Salowski (commanding officer at the precnct) present the first ‘Cop of the Month’ award to Sgt. Carlos Fabara (center) at the 101 Community Council meeting on November 16. On November 9, Fabara chased and caught a suspect who was carrying a 380 automatic weapon. Less than a week later, he stopped two men from Long Beach and recovered another gun. “This is what we have working at night folks,” Salowski told community representatives at the meeting. “We have people out there working for us led by young men like this, who make a tremendous difference in our neighborhood.” Photo by Miriam Rosenberg.
