ABTS Joins ‘Toys For Tots’

Arverne By The Sea (ABTS) is asking for the help of the local community. The two companies, The Beechwood Organization and Benjamin Development, that are involved in building more than 1,200 new housing units in Rockaway as well as new stores and public amenities, are working with the “Toys For Tots” program to bring new toys to those in the Rockaway community who would otherwise be without them this holiday season.

Arverne By The Sea is collecting new, unwrapped toys suitable for children aged one to twelve years through December 19.

“At Arverne By The Sea, we realize that during the holidays it is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of decorating, shopping and socializing,” says Laura Sporney, a spokesperson for the new housing complex. “While all this activity is part of what makes the season special, it is important to take time to reflect on the larger meaning of the holidays — caring and sharing. What better time to teach kids about helping others?”

One simple gesture can mean a world of difference to a child in need, according to Sporney. That gift can be as simple as a small toy. The Marine Corps Reservists’ Toys for Tots campaign makes a difference in the lives of the less fortunate children of the Rockaways.

“Following in the footsteps of our parent companies, The Beechwood Organization and Benjamin Development, who have been recognized time and time again for the dedicated support of causes like the fight against cancer, the Coalition on Child Abuse and Neglect and the New York Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, it’s no surprise that Arverne By The Sea will be active is sharing their support of the Rockaways through Toys for Tots,” she adds.

Arverne By the Sea is the recent recipient of the 2004 Community Development Award from the Chamber of Commerce of the Rockaways. This award highlights our commitment to the local community of Arverne.

Unwrapped toy donations can be dropped off at ABTS’s Sales Center located at 7303 Spinnaker Drive (at the corner of Beach 73 Street and Shore Front Parkway) in Arverne. The office is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
