Lady Hornets AAU Tryouts

The Lady Hornets AAU Basketball team is holding a free basketball clinic for girls from ages 8-13. The clinic, which will be held through the month of February on every Friday from 7- 8:30 p.m., includes skills such as ball handling, shooting and defense. It will take place at Seth Low International School at 99 Avenue P in Brooklyn between West 11 and West 12 Street.

The Lady Hornets AAU basketball team finished their 2004 season by traveling to Roger Williams University (Rhode Island) over Columbus Day weekend and winning three out of four games.

The Hornets beat teams from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and the New Hampshire state champions. The team is made up of girls from Brooklyn and Rockaway.

The girls representing the Rockaways are: Shannon Delfini, Marianne Hanning, Katie Henderson, Rebecca Moers, Maureen O’Sullivan, and Erin Tacopina. The girls from Rockaway are key members of the team with all of the girls scoring in all of the games.

The girls are coached by Joe Deluca and Derek Mullen and are now working out preparing for the 2005 AAU season which begins in March. Anyone interested in working out with the girls can call Coach Joe at 718 934-5032.
