BCHS To Host Senior Thanksgiving Dinner

Beach Channel High School will host its sixth annual Thanksgiving dinner for seniors to be held at the school on Thanksgiving Day, November 25. Doors will open at 11:00 a.m.

The school’s students will once again serve a full turkey dinner to senior citizens and nursing home residents living in the Rockaway area.

They will also accompany the seniors onto the dance floor while the BCHS Band, Chorus and DJ perform.

“This is truly an intergenerational extravaganza that is open to all of the senior citizens in the neighborhood who call to reserve a seat,” says Sheila Murray, a spokesperson for the school.

Those seniors interested in participating should contact Murray at BCHS 718-945-6900, x 398.

Last year, Murray says, Russo’s on the Bay, Affordable Auto, Mocean, 29 Deli, Waldbaums, Harbor Bakery and Key Food were among the local businesses to make contributions to the dinner.

More than 20 turkeys were donated by local families.

This year Saint Francis de Sales seventh grade students who are enrolled in Religious Education will be preparing salad for the Thanksgiving celebration.

Murray says that contributions are always welcome.

Those who are interested in contributing should contact her at the school.
