Police officers from the 100 Precinct pose with the gun they took from a man parked nearby the boardwalk on Beach 121 Street last week. Police took a loaded handgun off an Arverne man last week after they approached his parked vehicle on a Rockaway Park street and found the weapon tucked in the back seat, according to court records.

Michael J. Barber, 20, of 141 Beach 56 Street, was sitting behind the wheel of a red Lexus sedan in the “no standing anytime” zone on Beach 121 Street – right near the boardwalk – at about 8:45 p.m. on October 27. Police said Barber, who crouched low in his seat and had the vehicle’s headlights turned off, looked suspicious.

100 Precinct Police Officer Khalid M. Ragab approached the Lexus and spotted a Bryco .380 semi-automatic handgun. The small yet flashy weapon had six bullets in its clip, police said.

Barber is charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned the next day in Queens Criminal Court where his bail was set at $2,500. Barber is due back in court on November 15.
