The Inner Voice

by Marilyn Gelfand

Time does move along regardless of events, and the election is finally over in terms of who we should cast our vote for. No more political ads on who to vote for. Many people expressed how crazy the energy was right before the election. Some people felt crazy just listening to the news or conversations on the street.  Other people’s energy can travel along and reach us. It has been said that one bad apple can affect the whole bushel. The same with energy. One person’s strong energy can travel and touch many other people who then feel it and know that they are feeling something, but they don’t know why.

If someone’s energy reaches you on a personal level, you may feel it as a beautiful feeling, a tightness on the head or even a small burning sensation like a stab in the back.  Sometimes people feel a fear in the pit of the stomach when they know they are not afraid of anything.  This could be someone else’s energy.  The awareness comes in with the ability to distinguish between mine and another’s feelings. A protective layer to block the aggressive or needy energy can be placed around ourselves to prevent this feeling invading our own peace.

When the energy is something like a quarrel in the supermarket on line in front of you or just being on a subway car with lots of different people aboard, it is a good idea to protect yourself before you even get to the place filled with the energy of strangers. You can even monitor yourself and see if you feel strange, and you don’t know why. It could very well mean that is time to take a few minutes to cleanse and protect your own energy and then go back out into the world. As much as possible, we do not want to get caught up in the energy of others but to be in control of our own energy and keep it peaceful.
