Arverne-By-The-Sea Helps Revitalize Far Rockaway


A new sign, located in the triangle between Mott Avenue and Central Avenue, welcomes people to the Rockaways and the Far Rockaway Business District. At the unveiling are Captain Andrew Lunetta (101 precinct executive officer), Assemblywoman Michelle Titus, Steve Ward (Parks supervisor), Jerry Romski (Benjamin-Beechwood, LLC), Jonathan Gaska (Community Board 14 District Manager), Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer, State Senator Malcolm Smith and Donovan Richards (District Manager for Councilman James Sanders, Jr.). The landscape of the triangle has been spruced up by Benjamin-Beechwood, LLC (the developers of Arverne By The Sea) with new plantings, new fencing, a flagpole and the welcome sign. The project’s final cost will be $25,000 when all the work is done in the spring.
