SJEH Hosts Substance Abuse Seminars
Are substances interfering with the social, financial or other aspects of your life or those of a love one? How can you help a child who may be suffering from stress?
The Community Mental Health Center at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital will host two seminars on good mental health that are open to the public and free of charge, according to Penny Chin, a spokesperson for the hospital.
The first talk will focus on “The Signs and Symptoms of Substance Abuse: How to Tell if You or a Family Member is in Trouble.” It will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, from 12 noon until 1 pm. The talk will be given by Susan Scheier, CSW, who has 15 years of experience in the field.
The second talk will be on “How to Help Your Child Deal with Stress” and will be held on Wednesday, October 27, at 12 noon until 1 pm. That talk will be presented by Cynthia Pyle, CSW. Ms. Pyle has 11 years of experience in child psychiatry.
Both discussions will be held at the Community Mental Health Center, which is located at 521 Beach 20th Street, Far Rockaway, NY. For more information about these talks, please call the Community Mental Health Center at 718-869-8822. Light refreshments will be served.
