Rockaway Music and Arts Council
Special Evening Of Shopping

Giving ourselves a little R&R after a fantastic festival, the RMAC is now on to our next program which will be a delight for all those who like to “shop till they drop.”

As we have done for the past few years, the RMAC in conjunction with the “Simon Evening of Giving,” will participate in a special evening at the Roosevelt Field Mall. This wonderful event is only open to those participating with the RMAC and other organizations. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday evening, November 21, many of the shops will be offering special discounts to the shoppers and with your ticket in hand, you have a chance to participate and win many of the door prizes being offered.

Some of the participating shops at Roosevelt Field are Armani Exchange, Ann Taylor, Bath & Body Works, Coach, Crabtree & Evelyn, as well as Eddie Bauer, Steve Madden, J.C. Penney’s and Macy’s.

Why, you ask, is this event the Sunday evening just before Thanksgiving? Well, as you know, the Frday after Thanksgiving is known as “Black Friday” and if you ever tried shopping on that day, you know what a mob scene you encounter in every store, with lines a mile long and sales help that is already exhausted. This way, when you join us on the previous Sunday, you shop at leisure, receive many discounts, and you won’t encounter long lines.

Tickets to the event are $10.00 and your check can be made payable to the RMAC. This small contribution will help support the RMAC and the Simon Youth Foundation. Tickets can be purchased by calling the RMAC at 718-474-6760. Leave a message with your name and phone number and we will call you back.

Tickets to the “Simon Evening of Giving” are limited, so please call as early as possible to be sure you are included.

It is hard to believe but the Rockaway Music & Arts Council will be 50 years old next year. Some special events are being planned to celebrate the event possibly in the spring of 2005.

In discussions at our last meeting it was decided to ask you, our neighbors and friends, who you might like to see at one of our Summer Picnic Concerts next summer. We would like to hear from you, so call the number above and leave your suggestions. You never know, your suggestion may just be the one that we use.

We wish everyone a wonderful fall and look forward to seeing you around town. Oh, boo! Happy Halloween.
