Sarnoff Cartooning Class Draws Some Prize Winners

Pat Bishop’s cartoon was judged one of the best. Wave editorial cartoonist Robert Sarnoff recently held a cartooning class at the Seaside Branch of the Queens Public Library.

Twenty-five students, ranging in age from 11 to 71, attended the two-session class. Sarnoff asked those in the class to turn themselves into editorial cartoonists by giving them a homework assignment to turn out a cartoon to accompany a recent Wave story, “Former LILCO Site to be Toxin Free By 2010.” Sarnoff then submitted some of the cartoons that were done as a result of the class to The Wave, including one by City Councilman Joseph Addabbo, Jr., who wandered into one of the sessions and joined in.

Addabbo’s cartoon probably comes from his newly-married status.
