‘Food For The Birds’ At Fort Tilden Saturday
On Saturday, October 9 at 9 a.m., the National Park Service at Gateway National Recreation Area is offering the public an opportunity to learn about the birds that annually pass through the Jamaica Bay area during fall migration.
Meet at the Visitor Contact Station of Fort Tilden for a free public program entitled Food for the Birds. Join park volunteer and expert birder, Ron Bourque, to search for migrant hawks and songbirds during the peak of the fall migration.
Those who attend will learn about the wild foods the birds depend upon to fuel their long distance journeys.
Reservations are required for this program. To reserve, please phone the Fort Tilden Visitor Contact Station at (718) 318-4300.
Fort Tilden is located on Beach Channel Drive, Rockaway just west of the entrance to the Marine Parkway Bridge. Bring binoculars.
