Washroom ‘Monkey’ Man’s Case Adjourned

By Brian Magoolaghan

The charges against a white man accused of hurling a racist remark at a black woman and stealing her laundry card at a Shore Front apartment building could be dropped next month, a law enforcement source said.

Jerome Moley, 46, was arrested early last Saturday morning after he allegedly barged into the laundry room at 8600 Shore Front Parkway, where he lives, and accused Edelyne Tsaabbas, 48, of trespassing in order to do her laundry, according to court records. Besides egg on his face – Dayton Beach Park confirmed Tsaabbas is a resident – Moley wound up with cuffs on his wrists for allegedly referring to his neighbor as “just a monkey” and stealing her prepaid laundry card from a machine.

Moley was charged with petit larceny and harassment, and the police department labeled the incident a “possible bias incident,” but Criminal Court Judge Steven Paynter adjourned the case in contemplation of dismissal, according to a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.

Moley is due back in court on November 23. The case against him will likely be dropped if he avoids further criminal allegations until then.
