Weiner Named To Head Cancer Campaign
One of the nation’s foremost breast cancer organizations has recognized Representative Anthony Weiner for his leadership in the fight against breast cancer. Weiner was named an honorary host of the Men Against Breast Cancer (MABC) Get the Picture, Save a Life Campaign kickoff.
Men Against Breast Cancer (MABC) is the first national non-profit organization focused on getting men involved in the fight against breast cancer.
They’ve named Weiner an honorary host of their campaign kickoff for the Get the Picture, Save a Life campaign, an effort to raise awareness about the importance of mammography in the early detection of breast cancer.
Weiner conducted a study of New York City mammography clinics, showing that 55 clinics have closed their doors since 1999, and that the average wait time for an appointment is a deplorable 6.1 weeks. Weiner has joined with physicians, women’s advocates and cancer patients to press for an increase in the Medicare reimbursement rate to cover mammography exams.
“We’ve lost too many mothers, sisters and daughters to breast cancer,” said Rep. Weiner. “Today, I join with fathers, brothers and sons in fighting this terrible disease.”
