Station To Be Renovated

The National Park Service, at Gateway National Recreation Area, has announced a full scale renovation of the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge visitor contact station. The project is scheduled to begin at the end of September and last about one year.

The refuge trails will remain open to the public through the construction period. In order to minimize disturbance to refuge visitors, trails will be rerouted around the construction site, and a temporary visitor contact facility will be erected at the north end of the parking lot. The facility will house a public rest room, and information center, and a small book sales area. Picnic tables will also be available at the north end of the parking area.
