Congressman Meeks Announces SEC Jobs In DC, VA

Congressman Gregory W. Meeks Congressman Gregory W. has announced student employment opportunities at the Securities and Exchange Commission, both in the Washington, DC headquarters in the Alexandria, VA. operations center.

“The job opportunity program will enable students from the Sixth Congressional District a get acquainted with the challenges and opportunities at the Securities and Exchange Commission, laying a strong foundation for their future,” stated Representative Meeks.

Program highlights include seminars and workshops, educational seminars led by key individuals in government as well as with institutions in the securities and legal profession, mentoring programs, exposure to the SEC’s work to protect investors. Programs include:

Student Temporary Employment Program - current Students who wish to work part or full time while in school in the Washington, DC area.

Summer Honors Law Program- Compensated summer positions for law students who are in their first or second year or entering judicial clerkships or continued education post-internship. 

Law Student Observer Program - Volunteer or for credit positions offered to current law students during the academic year.  Deadline for Spring, 2005 semester is November 12.  Deadline for Fall 2005 semester is April 8, 2005.

Summer Employment for College Students - Compensated summer positions for current students who want to explore various career opportunities with the SEC.

Summer Honors Business Program- Compensated summer positions for entering junior or senior undergraduates and first year MBA’s concentrating in finance, economics, accounting or business administration. 

Applications will be accepted December 1, to March 1, 2005.
