Delighted some of you caught my television interview with Mickey Rooney and his wife of 30 years, beautiful and talented, Jan Chamberlain Rooney. They just completed their limited engagement at the Irish Repertory Theatre of “Let’s put on a Show” which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was such an entertaining evening. I just loved it and I know you will, too, when they return to New York. In the meantime they will be touring the country and are performing in Branson where the show will sure to be a big hit.
The” Giants of Broadcasting “gathered together at the Grand Hyatt this week for their annual awards luncheon: Marlo Thomas who received an award for her dad, Danny Thomas, as well as for herself; Mike Wallace for his “Giant Broadcasting” including “60 Minutes” (see photo with yours truly); also Ralph Baruch; Don Hewitt; Ed McLaughlin; and Pierre Sutton were award winners. A special tribute was made to President Ronald Reagan and via video Merve Griffin was seen. The daughter of Shari Lewis accepted the award for her mother. None other than the incomparable George Osgood was the Master of Ceremonies - a beautiful way to pay tribute to the members of the Library of American Broadcasting.
The American Historical Society on CPW and 77 Street opened it’s Alexander Hamilton exhibition with a gala reception with his ancestors. Mayor Bloomberg welcomed the elegant crowd. This exhibition will be open to the public till Sept. 28, 2004 and do take advantage of it. It is great place for you and your children to hop back in time and learn about one of our great founding fathers. Alexander Hamilton died in a duel with Aaron Burr and this duel is reenacted with live performers. Go see this interesting and historical exhibit. It is so informative.
Ran into Donna Sullivan from Belle Harbor at the Victoria Secret exhibit at the Beauty Show at the Javits Center along with Charlie Green. Can’t help finding Rockawayites throughout the city.
Had my fourth Invisilift non-surgical face rejuvenation treatment and people already have had an astonished reaction to my new look. Most old friends know my age, but now they find it unbelievable. (That’s what they say. Anyway, if you want to look younger and fresher without a surgical procedure and at an affordable price you may wish to call Dr. Kelly O’Malley-Mattone, MD. Dr. Mattone will be featured in the Dec. issue of MORE Magazine. She was one of 30 out of 15,000 contestants to be chosen semi-finalist in the Wilhelmina Model Agency and More Magazine beauty contest. By the way, she is also a boxer and has four children - a very accomplished lady.
