Hoops Summer Action At Poppa Tournament

  • The 4th Annual In Loving Memory of Poppa Tournament at Hammels Playground featured exciting summer basketball action. The four-week tournament, which is named after the senseless murder of a local resident, featured eight teams of players 18 years old and under. Generous donations by the community helped make this positive event take place.

    The team featuring Antoine Gibson (Game MVP), Jeremy Pruitt, Jonathan Grinage, Mike Hines, Brian Addison, Marcus Harris and Nimrod Gibson won first place overall. The team featuring Marc Bratton, Jevon Carmorl (League MVP), Jamel McBridt, Moses Omolade, Earl Lawrence, (Sportsmanship), Dayo Olafokun, Devon Saxon, John Wright and Coach Pepy placed second overall.
