Addabbo FHC Celebrates National Health Center Week

Councilman Joe Addabbo Jr., Dr. Peter Nelson, Executive Director of the Joseph P. Addabbo Health Center, and District Leader Frank Gulluscio. The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center joined with community health centers across the nation to celebrate National Community Health Center Week during the week of August 8 through August 13.

The highlight of the week long celebration was the First Annual Legislative Breakfast. The Honorable Gregory W. Meeks was the guest of honor. He was joined by Council Member James Sanders Jr., Council Member Joe Addabbo Jr. and District Leader Frank Gulluscio.

The State Legislators were all in Albany completing the budget. State Senator Malcolm Smith was represented by Pat Rubin, Assembly Member Michele Titus was represented by Tavia Blakely and Assembly Member Audrey Pheffer was represented by P’nina Gluck. The Vice-Chair of Community Board 14, Viola Akers, was joined by the Co-Chair of the Health Committee for Board 14, Hazeron Mohammed.

Also in attendance were Willie Traynham, New York City Housing Authority Coordinator for Community Health-Queens Operations, Simone-Marie Meeks, Co-Chair of the 6th Congressional District’s Health Committee, and Helena Bowens, Region 5 Health Director for the New York City Department of Education. Traynham, Simone-Marie Meeks and Bowens are members of the newly formed Community Advisory Board of the Addabbo Health Center.
