Girls Division Takes Summer Center Stage

The Girls High School division has had to share the spotlight in August so far, but they will have center stage now.

Sony has emerged as the favorite in early action by winning its first five games. Jennifer Kelleher, Jean Clyde, Jill Brady and Megan Davidson have taken turns leading the scoring, which is well balanced.

FDNY-The Brooklyn League has only two losses to Sony by a total of 3 points blemishing their record.

The team is full of versatile players led by point center Molly Tubridy. Jennifer Lawler, Nicole Savarese, Diana Canzoneri, and Laura Michelle have been outstanding in support and the team is very deep in quality players.

Breezy Point Lumber has awoken from its slumber and looks to challenge the top two. Tia Grant, Lisa Minetta, and Nicole Estrada have spurred the improvement.

Katie Pastina, Anna Buzzetta, and Barbara Rudloff have all shined as well. ATP Insurance has been a victim of poor attendance. This team has yet to field its full squad. Christine Kinnery, and Natalie DeSanctis have been the brightest lights. With a full squad, who knows what can happen.

The St. Francis Summer Classic regular season play concluded on Thursday, August 19. Semi-finals are this Monday, August 23 at 7:15 and 8:30 with the championship set for Wednesday, August 25 at 7:30 p.m.
