NYPD Floyd Bennett Field Drill Shows City Is Ready For RNC
The New York City Police Department showed off its plans for handling demonstrations at the upcoming Republican National Convention with a series of drill scenarios held for the media at Floyd Bennett Field on Thursday morning. The NYPD’s new anti-terrorist helicopter was on view at the media demonstration.
Also on view were a number of vehicles used by the NYPD, including an armored vehicle used in hostage or terrorist situations.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelley spoke with reporters about the convention and the need to balance a police presence with the right of citizens to demonstrate peacefully.
