SJEH To Honor Three Doctors At Chrysanthemum Ball
Three well-respected physicians: Jean B. Antoine, MD, attending, Department of Internal Medicine; Roy A. DeBeer, DO, attending Department of Internal Medicine; and Snehanshu Ghosh, MD, Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Chrysanthemum Ball will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2004, at the Sands at Atlantic Beach, New York.
He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Brooklyn. In 1977, he came to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway as an internal medicine fellow and afterwards joined the medical staff as an attending in the Department of Internal Medicine. He has a thriving practice in Far Rockaway. Dr. Antoine has been very active in the Medical/Dental/Podiatric Staff at St. John’s and serves as a permament member of the Medical Executive Committee. He has been a member of the Medical Records Committee for six years.
Dr. DeBeer is an attending physician in the Department of internal medicine. He is board certified in medicine, gastroenterology and oncology. He has been affiliated with the Hospital and Cedarhurst Medical Associates since 1977. In 1981, he founded the post-graduate training program for Osteopathic Medicine, that today trains 76 physicians a year. He is an Associate Professor of Clinical Gastroenterology and Chairman of the Division of Gastroenterology at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY. For 27 years, Dr. DeBeer has been a member of Project Challenge in Long Beach and has served as a Big Brother for 30 years. He serves as an official in the 7th Day Adventist Church of Hempstead and as a Sabbath schoolteacher.
Snehanshu Ghosh, MD, has served as the Chairman of the St. John’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1978. Before joining the staff of St. John’s, he was a member of the faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and certified in gynecologic endoscopy, he is one of the few physicians in the borough expert in endometrial ablation, a treatment to relieve heavy menstrual bleeding. He served as Chairman of the Queens Committee for the Improvement of Health Care from 1981 to 1983 and Vice President and President of the Joint Medical Board of St. John’s from 1985 until 1988. Since 1997, he has been included in the Castle Connolly book entitled “Top Doctors: New York Metro Area.” Proceeds of the Ball are earmarked for support of the Emergency Department, and intensive care, cardiac care, and surgical services at St. John’s.
