Little Richard is the originator, the emancipator, and the architect of rock and roll. Exploding into the American consciousness in the mid-50’s, his first single laid the foundation and established the rules for a new musical form called rock and roll. The song, “ Tutti Frutti,” was his catalyst for success along with his smash hits “Long Tall Sally,” “Rip It Up,” “Lucille,” “Jenny, Jenny,” also “Good Golly, Miss Molly. By 1968, Little Richard had sold over 32 million records internationally. Richard was honored with a star on the world-renowned Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 21,1990. He is currently delighting audiences worldwide with his unique blend of music and humor.
If any one individual can be credited as the premier figure of rock and roll, it’s Chuck Berry. His music, lyrics and free spirit made and indelible impression on millions of young people, including the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
