West End Temple Hosts RMAC Writers Group

West End Temple’s Social Club was host to the Rockaway Music & Arts Council (RMAV) Writers Group on Thursday evening, July 29.

Local writers who are members of the group and who were present that evening, read from a variety of works-in-progress including memoirs, monologues, poetry selections, plays, young adult novels, short stories and essays.

The evening was chaired by Estelle Feldman, who has had a number of her works published in the past.

Reading their works were Shirley Golub, Carolyn Rushevsky, Grace McCluskey, Ken Mainarich, Paul Kaplan and Hana Roth-Seavey.

Both Shirley Golub and Grace McCluskey are members of RMAC’s Executive Board. Roth-Seavy’s musical, Jack, was recently presented at The Looking Glass Theatre on West 57 Street. Members of the audience also participated in the event. Among the talented writers were Stephen Yaeger, Linda Ruscillo, Sara Berger, Luis Diaz, Mary Brady, and Fletcher Eberle. Yaeger is also a member of the RMAC Executive Board and writes the column, “Drawing on Science” for The Wave. Feldman thanked Lyn Kramberg and the Social Club for its invitation, and the enthusiastic audience who made this a truly wonderful evening.

The RMAC Writers Group looks forward to next year with readings of works-in-progress.
