The 101 and 100 precincts, the two NYPD police precincts that serve Rockaway, joined the other precincts that make up the Queens South Command at an Annual Harmony Picnic that took place at Cunningham Park on July 20.
Hundreds of children from community centers from all over the area enjoyed a day of fun at the park that included food, games and interaction with some of the police officers that serve Southern Queens.
Among the highlights were giveaways for the young people from Power 105 radio and a flyover and close-up look of a NYPD Air/Sea Rescue Helicopter.
Also at the event, several members of the department from Queens South were presented with special awards. Two of them were from the Rockaways – retired Officer Michael Valentino from the 101st and Detective Raphael Ruiz of the 100th Precincts.
The other precincts in Queens South are the 102, 103, 105, 106, 107 and 113.
