Summer Camp Soccer 2004

Sorrentino Recreation Center under the expertise of soccer coach Raynold Desmarets presents it’s 2nd Annual Summer Camp soccer clinic featuring six teams, ages 8-13 years old and two teams, ages 6&7 years old. The games are played Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer (July and August). The teams for this year are as follows: 8-13 year olds- Arsenal, Fire, Victory, Vikings, Racing, and Stars 6&7 year olds- Jaguar and Cougars. The team members along with Coach Raynold are having an enjoyable and rewarding summer learning the fundamentals of soccer.

Hoops "4" Kids

Basketball Program

With forty kids participants and counting, the 3rd annual Summer Hoops "4" Kids basketball program is proving to be a big success. The basketball program is nothing less than amazing. Coaches: Stan Brown, John Middleton, and Robert Lindo. Assistant Coaches Ronald, Peyton, Devon, Jermaine, Shakil, Darnell, and Davion as well as basketball guru and Center Manager Bernard Robinson are looking forward to an excellent and enjoyable summer.

All games and practices are being played at Bayswater Park on Tuesdays and Fridays 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m. with Sorrentino Recreation Center as it’s rain site. The program started on June 28, 2004 with the tournament beginning on July 20, 2004 through August 17, 2004. Sorrentino Summer Baseball

Sorrentino Recreation Center presents the Second Annual Health Plus/Police Athletic League Summer Baseball started on Saturday, July 3, 2004.

The Queens division consists of four (4) teams. The team names and their win/lose records are as follows: Twins – Coach Kelvin Bowers 2 wins, 0 Losses. Cardinals: Coach Stan Brown, Assistant Coaches Francois Nicolas & Kyle Kimble. 2 wins, 0 losses. Cubs: Coach Rick Adkins, Assistant Coach Eric Copeland & Howard Ellis 0 wins 2 losses. Pirates: Coach Robert Lindo. 0 wins, 2 losses Head Umpire – Kyreen Softliegh

All games are played at O’Donohue Park (Beach 17th Street and Seagirt Blvd.) starting at 10 a.m. Every game that was played was full of excitement and intrigue. It’s a learning process for all involved. This is a very enjoyable year for baseball featuring coed teams and a huge support of parents, relatives, friends, and spectators. Playoffs start August 7, 2004 at 10 a.m. and the championship game will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 10 a.m.
