Medina Showcases Basketball SkillsIn Switzerland

Sixteen-year-old Far Rockaway resident Tatiana Medina will soon flash her basketball skills at the Switzerland Invitational Basketball Tournament sponsored by People to People Sports Ambassador Program, which is scheduled for later this month.

Medina, who is the only New Yorker to represent the team, will travel with the team for training camp in Paris, France. Her team will face off against competition from Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Playing her favorite position at point guard, Medina has a lot of experience leading her Milbank team through various tournaments throughout the city.

"Anybody who has her as a point guard has a general on the court, who knows how to score, distribute the ball, and get everyone involved", says Kelsey Stevens, Milbank’s head coach.

Medina would like to showcase her streetball skills as a part of her overall game in Switzerland. It is an opportunity for her to show the moves she has flashed on the playground.

"It is offering me the opportunity to show my skills, but also to meet people from other cultures who also share my love for the sport," Medina says. "I also get to represent the USA, the city of New York and my family homeland Puerto Rico."
