O’ Connell Is One StepAway From Olympics


Former Rockaway Resident Denise (Dee) O’ Connell finished in third place in the javelin throw at the U.S. Track And Field Olympic Trials held in Sacramento last weekend. O’Connell ‘s highest throw was 54.05 meters and finished third behind Sarah Malone and Kim Kreiner. O’Connell needs to reach the Olympic standard by throwing 60 meters before the August 9 deadline at any meet that is scheduled and viewed by an official from the U.S. Track and Field Committee.
