Strip-Club Killer Is From Rockaway

A Far Rockaway man was arrested and charged in the March shooting death of a of a strip-club manager on Queens Plaza South.Joseph Harper, 26, was arraigned on June 5 and is charged with two counts of second degree murder, second degree attempted murder, criminal weapons possession and reckless endangerment, according to court records.

Harper got into a fight with a group of men outside of CityScapes, a strip-club on Queens Plaza, during the early morning hours of March 1. He fled and returned shortly with a handgun - opening fire on the men, but striking Eileen Acevedo, instead, the court records allege.

Acevedo, a 34-year-old part-time employee of Scandals, another strip-club nearby, was waiting for a cab-ride home when the gunfire erupted. She pushed a pair of strippers she knew out of harms way, according to published reports. She left behind a 10-year-old son.

Queens Criminal Court Judge Steven Paynter ordered Harper held without bail. He is due back in court on July 15.
