Meeks Lauds Edwards As VP Choice

Meeks Lauds Edwards As VP Choice

In choosing Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina as his running mate, Sen. John Kerry has at one and the same time demonstrated for all the country to see the thorough and thoughtful way in which he make decisions and the boldness of his decisions.  Sen. Kerry has selected a vice-presidential candidate who distinguished himself in the primaries, in the United State Senate, and in his professional life as a fighter for the needs of the other America," said Meeks in a prepared statement on Wednesday.

"This is an inspirational selection which makes for an inspired Democratic presidential campaign. The energy and vision of John Kerry and John Edwards make for a unified Democratic ticket that has the energy and vision to truly unify and lead America," Meeks added.

"The Kerry-Edwards ticket provides voters with a clear choice and an attractive alternative.  I will be proud to campaign the length and breadth of our country — in urban centers, rural areas, college campuses, in the North, South, East, West, as well as the heartland — on behalf of a ticket whose views and values reflect the best in America, on behalf of a ticket that will campaign everywhere and exclude no one, on behalf of a ticket that will bring hope, honor, openness, integrity, inclusiveness, and respect to the White House and to America’s role in the world," Meeks concludes.
