Lucille Ward

Lucille Ward, a Rockaway Beach resident for nearly 60 years, died on June 29.

Ward, who was born in Manhattan, was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima. She was a homemaker.

Ward was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Gdula.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Ward; daughter, Catherine Ward; sons, Richard, Steven (Donna) and Walter Jr.; sisters, Helen Bailey, Bertha Hale and Catherine Hendrickson; a brother, Joseph; granddaughter, Megan Ward; and grandsons, Michael Ward and Steven Ward Jr.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Steven Brunetti
TLC Employee

Steven Brunetti, a Rockaway resident for 25 years, died on June 24 after a yearlong illness.

Brunetti, who was born in Brooklyn, worked for the Taxi and Limousine Commission since 1986. He was the Director of Operations at the TLC's Staten Island facility.

Brunetti was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Frank Brunetti.

Brunetti is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; sisters, Ann, Barbara, Marilyn and Linda; brother, Michael; stepchildren, Anthony, Theresa and Robert; grandchildren, Vincent, Sammy, Isabella, Gabriella, Kristine, Tony, Nick and Tom; nieces, Robin, Francine, Ken and Fran; a nephew, Rick; great nieces, Ashley, Alexa, Nicole and great nephew Ric-Kelly.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Frank Bianculli. Mass was held at St. Francis de Sales Church. Disposition was at Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery.

Clyde Carlisle Simmons
Seaman, Postal Clerk

Clyde Carlisle Simmons, who worked for more than 10 years as a painter, plumber and mason on a local household, died on June 22. He was 73.

Simmons, who was also known as "Seckie," was born in Kingston, St. Vincent, West Indies. He was a seaman and a postal clerk.

Simmons is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Rawle, Andre, Gaynelle, Cheryl, Jimmy, Tyrone and Miko; 22 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with a service at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Disposition was at Nassau Knolls Cemetery, in Port Washington.

Benjamin Frumkin
Grocer, Social Services Worker

Benjamin Frumkin, a Rockaway Park resident for 48 years, died on June 24. He was 93.

Frumkin, who was born in London, England, worked for the United States Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He owned the Supreme Supermarket across from St. Camillus Church on Rockaway Beach Boulevard and worked for the Department of Social Services in Arverne, as a Local 1549 shop steward.

Frumkin is survived by his wife, Sarah, children, Barbara Weiserbs, Neal Frumkin, Yvette Feis and their spouses; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Interment was at Cedar Pines Cemetery, in New Jersey.

Wayman Brown Jr.
Security Guard

Wayman Brown Jr., a Rockaway resident for more than 25 years, died on June 27. He was 54.

Brown, who served in the United States Army, worked as a security guard.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sister, Gloria; brother, Jerry; six grandchildren, Corey, Aliea, Rashawn, Briana and Latasha; two sons; a daughter, Pamela; and other family and friends.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with a service at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel Disposition was at Oxford Hills Crematory, in Chester.
