AAU Hornets Finish Strong Spring

The Lady Hornets AAU 10 year old girls basketball team just completed its spring season. They had an excellent year after starting out 0-8. The girls lost their first eight games, and then finished the next 16 games 15-1. The Lady Hornets play out of Brooklyn under the leadership of founder and head coach Joe Deluca and assistant coach Derrick Mullen.

The girls played teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Westchester, Poughkeepsie, Staten Island and Long Island. There are thirteen girls on the team with six girls hailing from the Rockaway area. They are: Shannon Delfini (Rockaway), Marianne Hanning (Broad Channel), Katie Henderson (Breezy Point), Rebecca Moers (Neponsit), Maureen O’Sullivan (Rockaway) and Erin Tacopina (Breezy Point). The girls are now getting started on their summer season, which will include playing in a summer league in Rockville Centre, and two tournaments, one in Rutgers University and one in Rhode Island.
