Jamaica Bay Little League Minor Mets’ Report

Jamaica Bay Little League Minor Mets’ Report

The BCAC Minor Division Miele Associates Mets continue to shine on the diamond as the JBLL season approaches the midway point. With solid pitching performances, consistent hitting and steady defense, the Mets have put together a four game winning streak and are now 6-1. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about their success is the fact that everyone on the team is contributing.

The winning streak includes a complete game one hitter turned in by Thomas Cani in a battle for first place, followed by a four inning, ten strikeout performance by James Miele, sandwiched between games where the other Met hurlers, Timothy Waldvogel, Domenick Delio, and Thomas and Joseph Steloh, combined to shut down the opponents.

Each game featured a different hitting star, with Sean Abell providing the punch to get them started and Michael Henglein, who has really started pounding the ball, smacking key hits in the last two games.

And when the Mets have been on the ropes, a defensive team that has proven exceptionally versatile has repeatedly bailed them out. Exemplifying that versatility, Jamie Romano has turned in outstanding defensive play at second base and centerfield to limit the other teams’ scoring chances.
