Give Clinton Kudos For Broad Channel Visit

Give Clinton Kudos For Broad Channel Visit

There are many locals who have issues with Senator Hillary Clinton and her policies and are vocal in their opposition to the ex-first lady. We often disagree with some of her liberal policies, but we cannot argue with the way she addressed Broad Channel and some of its problems in a long visit to that community on Friday evening. There were some who were surprised that Clinton showed up even though she had promised that she would come. As most of our residents already know from watching the funeral, Clinton and her husband were at the Washington, D.C services for former President Ronald Reagan that morning and had to quickly hop a shuttle to get to New York for the Broad Channel ceremony. Even when she came on time, there were many who believed that she would quickly do her political duty and head for home. On the contrary, Clinton seemed to be at home in the small island community. She posed for pictures with local and vets, signed autographs and even had time to talk with the local media. In her remarks, she praised the community for its patriotism and good will. She them marched the entire parade route and spent several hours at the Broad Channel American Legion post on Cross Bay Boulevard, speaking with locals about local problems. At 9:30 p.m., Clinton went with several officers from the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department to their old and decrepit firehouse on Noel Road to see what problems the local volies face. After the visit, she promised to see what she could do to help them gain the funds for a new firehouse. Throughout the several hours that she was in the community, Clinton was charming and attentive to the locals. Despite what you think of her politics or her husband’s tenure as president, Clinton should get kudos for her visit to our community.
