Papa’s Pizza HonorsMemorial Day

By Jim Hurley

The Memorial Day Weekend game of 05-30-04 had Papa’s Pizza playing against Cross County Federal Savings. Papa’s had the home field with Cat Murphy pitching. Cat gave up no hits the first inning, with 2 strikeouts and one tap eased out to her picking up the out at first with the sure glove of Annette Scotto who put out 5 additional runners during the game.

Briana Hart broke the ice with the first hit of the game, followed by Cat Murphy and Rosemary Burt’s singles and Jenna Hoffman’s "good at bat" walk for the push home. Lauren Houck smacked the only double of the game and scored twice for her 3 times at bat. Eight of Papa’s thirteen players scored at least once.

Papa’s clinched it 11-4 in 5 1/2 innings. The Cross County eight is commended for their spunk and spirit in carrying their team for a complete game.
