Three Get Maced At Beach Channel High School

A school safety officer and two female students were sprayed with Mace in an altercation between seven girls at Beach Channel High School last Friday afternoon.

Shanatea Martin, 18, was allegedly trespassing when the fight broke out in the school’s courtyard just after 12:30 p.m. NYPD School Safety Officer Stephanie Davis told police she saw Martin spraying Mace at Shadea and Tracy Joseph and was Maced herself when she tried to intervene, according to court records.

Martin is charged with third degree assault, criminal trespass, unlawfully possessing a noxious material and second degree harassment. She was released on her own recognizance at her arraignment in Queens Criminal Court last Saturday and is due back in court on June 16.

Another 18-year-old, Tiesha Price, was arrested in connection with the incident. Her charges will be dismissed in November if she stays out of trouble, court records show. Both Price and Martin had outstanding warrants for their arrest.

Three other girls received misdemeanor summonses, and juvenile reports were prepared on two more, police said.

Shadea and Tracy Joseph were treated for injuries at a local hospital.
