Three Far Rockaway young women have been chosen as State Finalists in the Miss New York American Teen and Coed Pageant. Victoria Harding, Chigozie Anyanwu and Trisha Williams will compete in the pageant on August 20 and 21 in the Rye Town Hilton.

Harding, 19, will be starting her fourth year at New York City College of Technology where she majors in Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts and hopes to pursue a career in confectionary arts. She also works as a dance instructor at Dance Dimensions and tutors third-graders in math and reading.

Anyanwu, 19, currently attends Borough of Manhattan Community College and was recently accepted by New York University. She aspires to become a surgeon and teaches team sports at J.H.S 180 on weekends.

Williams, 18, will be graduating from William Mac Grady High School and is attending the Art Institute on a full scholarship in the fall. She also volunteers with the Far Rockaway Girls Scouts of America as a troop leader.

The winner of the state pageant will receive a cash award, a crown and a banner and will represent New York at the National Pageant at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
